bp traveler Posted May 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2007 We will be flying either Northwest or KLM to London - which airport would be the closest to get on a cruise ship in Dover? Thanks!
Rare HeinBloed Posted May 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2007 NWA is serving Gatwick which is the next airport to Gatwick via Detroit or Minneapolis/St. Paul. KLM is serving Heathrow and London City via Amsterdam. Depending to your cruise line: Mostly transfers from/to Heathrow and Gatwick are provided. bp traveler Posted May 15, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted May 15, 2007 Thank you! I thought I had read on these boards that it would take 3 hours by train, sure hope not!
Rare HeinBloed Posted May 15, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 15, 2007 Thank you! I thought I had read on these boards that it would take 3 hours by train, sure hope not! Do not think I am mean... You need three hours by public transport!!! Min. 2 hours only incl. two transfers from Gatwick Airport to Dover Priory Street Station + time to/from stations. Check yourself here for your individual schedule: http://www.transportdirect.info/TransportDirect/en/ I would book a private transfer or the ship's transfer. The alternative could be to fly to Paris and to use the Eurostar train to Folkstone and from there it's easy to get to Dover. Somehow it's stupid.
