---> The extra room in our cabin and the little dressing room by the bathroom

---> Neptune Lounge!

---> The fabulous balcony which is a must have in our family

---> All the other perks that come along with it such as laundry and the suite luncheon.. yes many think the luncheon is silly but we still love going to it!

---> Breakfast in the PG!

Our first cruise we booked wasn't in a suite but we still had a fantastic time. After that cruise, we booked a suite and have now been on 10+ cruises on HAL as suite guests. I hate to say it, but we got addicted! :rolleyes:

The first time we booked one was because there were 3 of us and we thought it would be too cramped in something smaller.

Plus we only get to cruise once per year and we work really hard all year long. So it's really nice to splurge and be really pampered.

It's been said many times - once you enjoy the Suite life it's hard to go back.

My Dear Aunt Ruth wanted a suite when she cruised for her 90th birthday, and went back at 91, 92 and 93. She particularly loves the concierge in the Neptune Lounge who helps her fix her Wheaties and banana for breakfast, and leaning over the balcony watching the water. She books the suite next door for us, and we can have hors d'oeuvres in the suite, and invite our friends in. We open up the two balconies and have a sailaway party. She adores meeting the Captain at the suite lunch, too. Aunt Ruth loves her suites.

But in all honestly, when we cruise alone and Aunt Ruth is not along, we usually settle for the least expensive outside cabin. The suite life is nice, but we can't really justify paying that big price for the few extra perks. We enjoy using the public rooms on the ship and put the money into special shore excursions instead.

You can check out Aunt Ruth's cruises at the link in my sig below.

Everything about it... we enjoy spending time in our cabin and having the large verandah is wonderful. We love the ease of check in, adore the Neptune and the gals that work there. It is nice having canapes every evening before dinner as well.

Plus, the most fantaistic thing is the free laundry/dry cleaning and pressing.

It makes me happy coming home with bags of CLEAN clothes!

For us the most important perk is the Concierge and the Neptune Lounge. We love having someone take care of all of the details.

Not to say that free laundry, extra space, a great balcony and slippers on the floor are not appreciated and welcome.

:) Being in a suite gives us the best of both worlds: the perks and pampering of a luxury line coupled with the activities and facilities of a HAL ship. For our tastes, the Vista ships are too large...but even on the Oosterdam, being in a suite made it seem like a ship-within-a ship. (And we like the seperate shower).

We've looked into some of the more "upscale" lines...most of them are smaller and rather limited in evening activity and we do enjoy some of the shows and an active casino that HAL affords as well as the formal nights. Crystal seemed a possibility but, in order to enjoy the concierge perks, we'd have to spend more for a substantially smaller suite & verandah.

We always take late seating and enjoy relaxing on the verandah bedore dressing for dinner...the spaciousness of the HAL suites is wonderful!

We haven't been on the Prinsendam yet, but have a suite booked for the June 12th "Ancient Mysteries" sailing from Athens...can't wait!!!

What an accurate description that is! Between the Neptune, the PG for breakfast, the larger cabins, wonderful bathrooms and, for us, an incomparable aft corner suite, we can enjoy a world isolated at times from the rest of the passengers but still with the option to enjoy the main facilities when we choose to do so.

Depends on the line.

Since I consider Celebrity to be one of the better lines these days, I will make some comparisons to their ships:

No Neptune Lounge on X and nothing equal.

No option for breakfast in your own private dining room (the PG on Vista class).

Complimentary laundry and dry cleaning on HAL.

Upgraded linens in the suites on HAL.

Much better amenities provided in all classes of staterooms (Elemis vs Generic Brand).

We like getting the menus placed in our mailbox on HAL so we can decide on dinner plans.

Nice dressing area on HAL, and separate tub and shower.

Those come to mind immediately.

We love the Suite Life on HAL.

We also received several invitations to special events held for suite guests. Due to my schedule, we were only able to enjoy one which was a lovely luncheon in the Crows Nest.

This trip we plan to attend the cocktail party in the Neptune.
