Question about hotel reservations already made.

I got my hotel reservation for Miami off of Priceline. When I made the reservations it was just 2 of us but now my mom wants to join us (my sister and I) on the cruise and stay with us in hotel. Do I need to notify the hotel of the extra guest. I haven't requsted double beds yet was waiting until time get closer (cruise is Jan). Thanks!!

Do it now, don't wait or the double bed rooms may be alloted to other guests. Just tell them you want to confirm your reservation and after they confirm it ask for 2 beds non smoking or whatever configuration is best for you. Depending on the hotel you can also do this by email which is nice b/c then you have some proof of whatever you have confirmed.
