Villefranche to Monaco by Yourself

Could someone tell me how to get from the port to Monaco by bus or train? We'd like to not book anything from the ship for that day and kind of just wander around by ourselves. Time-wise, would this be possible without having to rush back to make sailing time? Thanks.

If you do a search on Monaco and Villefranche in this thread, you will also find a way to get there and back by bus. Just as easy as described above.

We used the train from Villefranche to Monaco and back. Not a problem; but do read reviews as recommended so you can save time there by using shortcuts/helpful hints posted on the boards. Make sure you save some time to explore Villefranche (it doesn't take much time) -- it is a very quaint and nice little town.
