barbados Posted August 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Oistens Fish Fry I have heard great things about this place. Is it a happening place on Saturdays. Do they serve liquor. Any info would be greatly appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------- Yes, they are going well on Saturday, but it seems like Fridays are their big day. A fish-fry without rum would be unthinkable! LOL. Yes, all that you desire. There are many vendors set up with their catch-of-the-day, many tables and music. Many folks start dancing, too. We call it a “lime”, or party. Quite inexpensive and tons of fun. It usually starts to rock when the sun goes down, but there are vendors set-up and selling as early as 5PM. Try it if you’re there late, you will have a ball! I leave you with a picture of one of the vendors at Oistins…..
pholter Posted September 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2004 This place sounds like fun and maybe a little more of a piece of the island than going for Harbour Lights or The Boatyard in the evening. Will it be as much fun?? Is it close to the piers so we could walk?

You cannot walk there easily as it is about three miles, but the shuttle goes there for a buck and the city bus for US$.75. The Boatyard is just great and you’ll probably have more fun there but… …..After you’ve seen The Boatyard, and on your second visit to Barbados, please go to Oistins (on a Friday or Saturday night)…..It is the way we islanders have fun and I think you’ll like it. My best wishes for a wonderful visit to the island! :)
