Norovirus and Tamiflu

Does anyone know if taking Tamiflu before your cruise would help deter getting the bug should there be one on board?

Tamiflu is specifically for the treatment & prevention of influenza A & influenza B. Influenza is not similar to Norovirus physically or in terms of symptoms nor mode of transmission.

Will it hurt? No.

Will it keep you from getting the flu? No. It may make your symptoms less pronounced if you did get the flu and it may help you recover quicker. Your best flu defense is a yearly flu shot.

Your best Norovirus defense is frequent and proper hand washing, prudent eating habits, and keeping your hands away from your mouth, nose, eyes and ears.

Also, Theraflu is to treat the symptoms associated with the Flu. It will not cure some who has fallen ill with the flu.

There is not treatment available to treat or use prophalactically (preventively) in order to prevent the Norwalk Virus. The best you could do is wash you hands thoroughly and do not put them in your mouth.
