1st time solo traveler on Silver Sea...

Hi there, Question for you seasoned Silver Sea travelers. I have done 12 cruises on Seabourn (the last three solo after divorcing), and am thinking about a Silver Sea cruise, either Nov 9th Rome to Athens on Whisper, or the Oct 18th transatlantic on Wind. Does Silver Sea give special attention to single travelers like Seabourn does - seating you at a hosted officers table every night? Are there many other singles on Silver Sea?

Any comments on the difference in the ships and which is preferred by other solo travelers?

Hi SeabournGirl,

I've gone solo a few times on Silversea, although not since 2004. There are usually a few singles, but mostly couples. I always received quite a few dinner invitations (maybe every other night) and crew would generally ask to join me or ask me to join them for lunch in the Terrace (buffet). Also, there is usually a singles get together the first night of the cruise.

I can't compare their treatment of singles to that on Seabourn as my first Seabourn cruise isn't until December and I'll have company. If you're concerned though, I'm sure if you request some attention up front you'll have to beat them off with a stick! The last cruise I took I had made a reservation for dinner in the Terrace (alternative) one night and when escorted to the table had another table request I be seated with them instead, leading to some good natured squabbling over who would "get" me! You will certainly not be negelected unless you want to be!

Have fun,

Bechi

As a single women, I much preferred the treatment I received on my 6 Seabourn cruises than I did with my two on Silversea. I really appreciate getting the invitation for dinner each evening from an officer or the cruise director on Seabourn, so I didn't have to feel uncomfortable walking into the dining room with no one to sit with. On both my 14 day Silversea cruises, I only received two dinner invitations, so on most evenings I found myself dining alone or asking people if I could join them. For me, that scenario is uncomfortable. I just prefer the way Seabourn treats single women.

Hi Mariamva2,

I've already booked the October cruise, and since I had to pay 200% of the single booking rate, I am bringing a fun loving single girlfriend along. Even at 200% with the 60% discount they were offering, it ended up being cheaper per day on Silver Sea than Seabourn's 125% single supplement for the November cruise I was booked on. The timing is simply better on this cruise than the Seabourn, and their first 2 Caribbean cruises are chartered, so my favorite itineraries were gone. And I love the days at sea, so hopefully this will be a good trip.

Sorry to have missed you! Oh well, we'll meet on another cruise and have too much fun.

Any other singles out there going??

Is it too early to post a roll call to see who's traveling on this cruise?
