cruisin'sz Posted May 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2007 I plan on doing some jet boating and glacier tours in early June and was wondering if I should leave the winter coat at home. Everyone on these boards suggest layering -- how many layers is enough to keep you warm and cozy? I was thinking, Long Underwear, Long Sleeve Shirt, Sweatshirt and then a rain coat or jacket of some type. Will that be enough or possibly too much? Am I better off with a short sleeve shirt, a winter coat and a real lightweight throw-away plastic poncho type raincoat? I don't want to overpack but I don't want to freeze either. mii Posted May 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2007 We just got back from alaska and in Juean we did a jet boat to Taku glacier in Juneau. Now this was a covered boat but I wore a tutleneck sweater, a fleece top and a medium weight jacket and was very comfortable. At that moment I could have just worn the fleece top and jacket and would have been comfortable but you just never know. The temps were in the 40-50's. Budget Queen Posted May 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2007 Layering is enough without a winter coat.
