Drew's Wife Posted May 30, 2007 #51 Share Posted May 30, 2007 We don't drink or gamble, so it would be no problem for us, but I realize that this is where a major portion of money is made for the cruise lines. We are happy:) just to be cruising and enjoying the beautiful scenery and relaxing for a few days.
fuggle11 Posted May 30, 2007 #52 Share Posted May 30, 2007 No "Fun Ship Special" foo-foo on Lido after boarding? No "sail away" champagne on the balcony? No beers by the poolside? No Bombay Sapphire Martini before dinner? No fine wines with the wonderful food in the dining room? No after dinner snifter of Grand Marnier, perhaps with a fine cigar? (sorry anti-smoking folks) No place to "donate" money via slot machines, roulette and blackjack? No way, not ever. Looking forward to saying YES! to all of the above on the Spirit this November. GayleR Posted May 30, 2007 #54 Share Posted May 30, 2007 I could do a cruise without alcohol, but no way am I cruising without a casino. No Disney cruises for me until the put a casino on board.
lagbunch8 Posted May 30, 2007 #55 Share Posted May 30, 2007 Nope, I don't need either. Love the ocean, the boat, the pool, the time with hubby. May drop $20 in the slots and have wine w/ dinner but neither make nor break the cruise! Me too! I have no use for the Casino at all. DH and I are not big drinkers so, that we can live without also. Our Disney cruise was one of the best cruises I have been on.(second only to my Med cruise because of the ports) We wanted to spend time together as a family and it was fantastic. We are far from Disney freaks too.
J Free 203 Posted May 30, 2007 #56 Share Posted May 30, 2007 I WOULD NOT go! I pay for my cruise in the casino and enjoy cocktails too much! no casino=no go!
Cruise, J.D. Posted May 30, 2007 #57 Share Posted May 30, 2007 No booze, no cruise (assuming booze cruises are available). Casino doesn't matter. Nice to have but not a deal breaker.
GottaLuvCruising Posted May 30, 2007 #58 Share Posted May 30, 2007 Makes no difference to me. A big night of gambling for me is $10 worth of nickles, so it's a non-issue. I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, but am just as comfortable with a tall glass of cold milk! :)
Calicruiser101 Posted May 30, 2007 #59 Share Posted May 30, 2007 I'm not much of a gambler, when the wife and I go to a casino, I may take $20 or $40, but that's all. If I win anything, then what I brought in with me goes back in my pocket, and I'll play till I loose the rest. Now drinks on the other hand, that's where I tend to spend a little more. After all, there's soo many drinks, soo little time. That is exactly what we do, throw some change in there, if I win great if not I didn't lose too much. I would not take a cruise that resembled something from the 1920's. I am not of a drinker but a foo-foo drink while cruising is a must. I prefer to cruise with a casino, but I could live without it, especially if I was cruising to Hawaii.
cruisin07family Posted May 30, 2007 #60 Share Posted May 30, 2007 So is someone counting the replies since this is a survey of sorts? We won't set foot in the casino. Neither of us are lucky and the smoke outweighs any fun to be had for us. For this reason we don't typically hang out in the ship bars either. I wouldn't disregard a sailing w/o alcohol but I do like to have those "girlie" drinks (that's what my hubby calls them) and an occasional glass of wine w/dinner. Now, give me a smokefree cruise, with or without booze or casino and I'm there.
wegiekat Posted May 30, 2007 #61 Share Posted May 30, 2007 I don't drink much, so that's not a problem, but I do love to gamble and I was worried about that when we sailed with Disney last December, but found I didn't miss it as I spent too much money playing Bingo.:(
signal34 Posted May 30, 2007 #62 Share Posted May 30, 2007 No rum? How could the rum be gone? Without rum I could actually appreciate how bad my singing is in the piano bar!!!
Wilbo Posted May 30, 2007 #63 Share Posted May 30, 2007 How would you make up the difference to the profit side of the balance sheet? I would hate to think what the fare increases would be. Ship travel would become possible only for the very rich.
neatokimmo Posted May 30, 2007 #64 Share Posted May 30, 2007 I'd be ok without both. We spent too much time in the casino last time and didn't get enough sleep. No way will I let slots take away from a beach day in paradise again!
ldock Posted May 30, 2007 #65 Share Posted May 30, 2007 WE would be on the ship, aslong as Date, itinerary, and price were right
Janespup Posted June 3, 2007 #66 Share Posted June 3, 2007 Don't drink so no problem there. We both like the casino though. Plan on doing a Hawaii cruise in the future and there are no casinos on those ships. We plan to stop in Vegas on the way home to make up for it! bnt Posted June 3, 2007 #67 Share Posted June 3, 2007 A cruise without beer and a casino, is like cruising without a ship.
