Drinking/Gambling informal survey

No alcohol? I usually will have wine with a few dinners and a few cocktails over the course of a cruise, but I wouldn't miss the alcohol if I couldn't get it, and a "dry" cruise would be fine with me -- it would have no impact on my choice.

No casino? This one is tougher, as the casino is one of my favorite parts of cruising and I spend a great deal of time there. I would not choose a cruise without a casino if there was a similar cruise WITH a casino available. I would cruise Disney on a family trip with my nieces and nephews because there is nothing like it for kids. Taking them on a Carnival or RCCL cruise would not be the same. I would gladly forego a casino to go on an "exotic" cruise on a small vessel (e.g. Galapagos Islands or Antarctica), as the itinerary and the sights are the entire point of that kind of cruise -- the ship is merely transportation and a place to sleep.

Funny we don't really gamble. I take @ $50.00 for the casino, but if there were no bar, I ain't sailing. Now I wonder when I'll get a, you're an alcoholic, reply. If any one wants to, don't waste your energy typing.

You won't get that reply from me. I feel the same as you, don't need a casino, but a bar is vitally important. :D

I could do without the alcohol, but not the casino. We never drink at home, so that's not a big deal. However, I anxiously await my cruises so that I can spend some time in the casino each day, playing Blackjack. As others have said, until Disney puts casinos on their ships, we will not be sailing with them. If the grandkids want to see the Rat, we'll take them to Disney World.

Kinda the opposite. We have off track betting and bingo in our home town but it was dry up until the past few years. Now it is "moist" which means you can buy by the drink at diner but there is no bars or package stores.

I will do my best to donate a $100 per cruise to the casino's but wouldn't stop cruising if there was no gambling (including the bingo cards). But I would have a hard time cruising without the lounges, bars, and foo's foo's by the pool. It would be too much like being home.

I don't gamble, so I couldn't care less about the casino. Still wouldn't sail Disney though - too many kids. I'd have a hard time cruising without a bar. I don't drink a lot, but I do like the occasional foo foo. Virginiab brings up a good point about the cost to cruise if we didn't have drinking and gambling on board. Bet that's part of the reason Disney is so expensive - no casino, and way more kids not contributing to the alcohol profit margins. Mom and dad are probably a bit more reserved too.

Even though I have been known to spend way too much time in the casinos. I would have to say yes I could sail without it. We already are looking into the Norwegian for Hawaii. As for the bar. Now that would be a deal breaker. I would not cruise without the bars.......

I'm not much of a gambler, when the wife and I go to a casino, I may take $20 or $40, but that's all. If I win anything, then what I brought in with me goes back in my pocket, and I'll play till I loose the rest.

Now drinks on the other hand, that's where I tend to spend a little more. After all, there's soo many drinks, soo little time.

I'd definatly go on a cruise that didn't serve alcohol or have a casino, since I don't drink and think casinos are kinda depressing. However I think I'd be sailing alone since none of my frinends would ever go on a cruise where they couldn't get their fruity drinks!! :)

I married into one of those families of Disney lovers (you know, let's buy a house in Orlando because we go to Disney so often, etc.) and every vacation involves going to see the Rat. However, with that being said, I absolutely refuse to spend money on a Disney cruise simply because of no casino. I am sure at some point, the old lady will drop the hammer and make me, but let me assure you, it will be one of those three day cruises; no longer.

I am ROFLMAO... How funny and I totally agree.

No drinks, No Casino........=........No Cruise!

No Smoking......=.....Where do I BOOK!!!

They can keep those Disney cruises. Too many kids, no casino,..... a vacation is for everyone not just kids.

Gambling, drinking.....doesn't matter to me. I would definately book a 'NO SMOKING ALLOWED' cruise! If one doesn't want to drink or gamble you can still enjoy....however, sometimes you just cannot get away from smoke...

I am a compulsive gambler and raging alcoholic and member of SAA. I usually can't remember what ports I've been in while gambling and drinking.........And the SAA, well ;-)

(joking.....)

I'm neither a big drinker nor gambler, but I do enjoy both occassionally. They're both a part of my cruise experience. Not having either or both would influence my booking decision. Same goes for hot tubs and massages. Both are things I look forward to on my cruise. I do things on cruises that I don't normally do at home. Then again, I do things at home that I don't normally do on cruises.

We don't drink, so it wouldn't be a problem, but we do like to gamble. We've been on several Disney cruises, however, and never missed the casino! There was just so much else to do on the Disney cruise that there wouldn't have been much time for it.
