dfb Posted June 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Has anyone done this from Punta Arenas, or even Puerto Montt? It goes to Carlos III Island in the Magellan Straits. Our ship has it as an excursion listed as "Humpback Whale Sanctuary at the End of the World". It sounds like this description, as well: http://www.whalesound.com/programs.html If anyone has gone, would love to hear all about it. Thanks, Debbie
dfb Posted April 10, 2008 Author #2 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Well, here I am posting a reply to my own question! I guess not many people do this. Understandable I suppose since it is so remote and expensive, but it is a great experience. Except for the helicopter ride! Of course, if you are one of those people who love helicopter rides, well then there is no downside here for you. Anyway, we can highly recommend the excursion. We had a great time. Below are 3 links from our trip journal. The first has an excursion description: http://journals.aol.com/dfriia/circle-south-america-2008-aboard/entries/2008/01/28/day-23---january-26-2008---cruising-the-chilean-fjords/1768 The second is a description and photos of the day: http://journals.aol.com/dfriia/circle-south-america-2008-aboard/entries/2008/01/28/day-24---january-27-2008---punta-arenas-chile/1769 The last one is some more photos we got posted later: http://journals.aol.com/dfriia/circle-south-america-2008-aboard/entries/2008/02/01/day-27---january-30-2008---at-sea/1772 Debbie
