marylizbeth Posted June 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2007 Headed out next week to begin our Baltic tour...almost all is set except for Gothenburg Sweden. Has anyone been? Do we need to book a tour with the ship or can we do it on our own? Any recommendations appreciated!
nyfeds Posted June 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2007 We docked in Visby and took Regent's Rugged Coast of Gotland tour and really enjoyed it. Have a wonderful time on your cruise
sho Posted June 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2007 I was on Voyager last year -- the ship didn't dock at the pier in Visby and we had to be transferred onshore by tender boats. We didn't join any excusion but spent time walking in Visby which was a quiet little town, and everywhere was accessible on foot. Spent about an hour lingering in the main streets looking at handicraft and jewellery shops, coffee in a local cafe and soaking up the summer sunshine! freddie Posted June 4, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2007 Marylizbeth - I used to go to Gothenburg regularly on business. Although it is a pleasant city, it has far less of interest than Stockholm. If you enjoy walking, you can see most of the highlights easily by walking around on your own, including the Fish Market (also called the Fish Church). Cheers, Fred
