tomboyy Posted June 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2007 We are taking a cruise with friends and they just asked us if one of their sons ( age 8) that had a school Photo id and birth certificate was enough to board the ship? they were wondering if they needed to take him to the South Carolina DMV to get a state id? Thanks Tom

Thanks Tom I don't believe children that young need a photo ID to board. However, it is a very good idea. In most cases (not entirely sure about the ship) a school photo ID will work (my DD had to have hers to get up in the Empire State Building in April), but a state issued ID is even better. caribbean dreams Posted June 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2007 NO, he will not need a photo ID, just a Birth Certificate at that age. An ID is only required if the child is 16 or older.
