VacationBob Posted June 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2007 My wife and I just booked on the NCL POA for October. We have never been to Hawaii. I am really excited about seeing several islands and the itnerary. We will also be staying a few extra days on the frount end, in Oahu. My wife and I have never tried NCL. I am a little worried after reading all the reviews. How do you think NCL and Pride of America stacks up to other ships and lines? What are must do things to see while in Hawaii on Oahu, Maui and Kauai?
Rare Host CMLA Posted June 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2007 What are must do things to see while in Hawaii on Oahu, Maui and Kauai? You can only get recommendations for NCL tours on this board. Check out the Hawaii ports of call board for must see things and tour operators, etc. Good luck. :)
jimmy123 Posted June 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2007 We were on the POH last July. The ships are very nice. The food was good. Hawaii is great. Service is mostly college students with a summer job. (85%) American crew. There is a lot of effort but not a lot of ability. Not bad but no where near the quality of service you expect on other cruises. The ports are very industrial, plan an excursion, or rent a car at every port. Waikiki, Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and helicopter tour on Kauai were the highlights of our trip. Road to Hana and Volcano National park were ok but not great. Overall we really enjoyed the cruise but we knew what to expect going in.
Wattle Posted June 7, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2007 We rented a car in every port. All I can say is plan, paln and plan again. I thought I had planed enough, but after talking to some others on board at the end of the day and found we had missed some things. Go to the Hawaii thread and read, and ask lots of questions....
