pokeypuppy Posted June 8, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2007 I am doing a NE/Canada cruise out of Baltimore in September. In Portland Maine one of the shore excursions is a trip to the Mt Washington Cog Railroad. I have been to Portland before and am considering this tour. As anyone done this and is it worth the 2 hour bus trip. I thought perhaps it would also be a good chance to see fall color. Thanks Carole
Guest nhrich Posted June 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2007 September's a bit too early to see much color, but there may be some spots that are starting to turn. Living in NE, I'd say it would be a worthwhile trip. It's a nice ride from Portland up to Mt. Washington, and if it's a clear day, the view from up there should be spectacular. CathyK2 Posted June 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2007 I live in New Hampshire and although every year is a little different, our colors as a rule don't become spectacular until October time frame most years. That is not to say you won't see some color chaning in September and each year can be a little different and not predictible. As far as the cog railway...gosh, I hadn't done that since I was a child but still have fond memories of it. We still go into the White Mountains most years and on a clear day, you will see some wonderful scenery. It's all about what your interests are, since it would be totally different to the city of Portland. Cathy
