Available tours in Anchorage

Our flight does not leave Anchorge until 10PM the day we disembark in Whittier. Other than taking the Whittier tour#001-offered by Princess-does anyone have suggestions on how to spend the day? Have you taken tours offered by others? We have booked Princess transportation to the airport and we were hoping to pick up a tour in downtown Anchorage which is supposed to be only 6 miles from the airport.From this board I learned that we can store our luggage at the airport so we don't have to worry about that.

I would suggest you do your homework and determine what is of the most interest to you in Anchorage?? http://www.anchorage.net It's an easy city to just do a self walking tour, stoping at sites of interest. The Alaska Native Museum, is excellent with shuttles from downtown.

Just noticed on Monday that at least four shuttles and tours (including the Alaska Native Heritage Center) leave from the Log Cabin Visitor Center on 4th and F streets in downtown Anchorage.

Just a big story on the news yesterday about the Trolley Wars. Guess the city decided all the trolley companies (2 of them and the Ulu Factory) and the shuttle to the zoo and the Heritage Center are all leaving from there now!
