Purchasing On Board Credit?

Has anyone ever purchased on board credit as a gift for someone? How does it work? Do they send the giver certificates that the cruiser has to turn in to the desk or do they just credit the on board account of the cruiser?

Thanks for the info -

There will be a card in the cabin, usually upon arrival, that they sign and turn into the front desk and the credit appears on their onboard account. You can add a personal message on the card if you want.

It's just like margaret said. I sent myself obc on one cruise because I needed the miles on my credit card for the flight. :o

That is a really great idea if you are close to getting the $500.00 gift certificate! I am going to share that idea with my parents!!!!!
