Cruise passengers robbed in HanoverA group of cruise passengers was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon, while on an excursion in Lethe Hanover. The group which comprised 17 persons including children was traveling in a Jitney while touring the Lethe plantation when they were reportedly approached by two young men armed with guns.

The men reportedly demanded money from the group then proceeded to search their pockets.

The incident traumatized most of the group members who were visiting the country for the first time.

One young child could not stop quivering.

However despite the negative experience one of the very outspoken guests said the incident would not deter his family from returning to Jamaica.

He lauded the operators of the attraction Francis Tulloch who is Caretaker for West Central St. James, and his wife, for the swift action they took in assisting them and contacting the necessary overseas agencies including credit card agencies.

Mr. Tulloch emphasized that an incident of that nature has been unprecedented since the inception of the attraction 22 years ago.

In the meantime, Opposition spokesman on Tourism Edmund Bartlett has condemned the incident and Wednesday afternoon offered his condolence while expressing hope that the matter will be amicably resolved for the visitors.

And recently appointed Chairman of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) Wayne Cummings says he is still trying to get detailed information on Wednesday's robbery.

Does anyone know anymore about this?

I had posted this last night.... shortly after it happened.

THis morning-- the police shot one of the robbers-- and recovered some of the stolen items.

I know that is surely is making me have second thoughts about going into town in Montego bay. Does anyone know exactly where this happened and was it a cruiseline excursion?
