What's fun in Nanaimo?

Recommended Posts

rent a car & drive south to Chemanius the little town that "Did"

Many years ago when the towns only industry (mill) closed the town was about to close too! However the townspeople got together and said what can we do to create an economy for ourselves. They looked to tourism and created a draw by painting murals on the exterior walls of the towns buildings. Every mural is painted by a different artist. It is fun to wander and view the art + enjoy poking around the quaint shops, tea rooms, ice cream parlours etc.

Nanaimo has spent a lot of money and time on their harbour and you will be able to spend a lot of time just walking around if you into that.

There is a "Cave" exploration trip that friends found very interesting and a trip to the "Cathedral Grove" a great set of trees.
