shoshona2 Posted June 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2007 Hi Sophie, There is a Ports section on Cruise Critic. If you scroll down to it and hit on South America, there is a large amount of info on guides in S.A. We used Portcompass several years ago and were most happy with their services. annX Posted June 27, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2007 I'm an American expat who has lived in Rio for 5 years married to a Brasilian. For a good bilingual ( multi lingual) Rio guide try Maria Yolen of Riocustomtours.com.br. She has a new SUV and knows her way around.
tgg Posted June 27, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2007 Based on a cruisecritic member's recommendation, I contacted Tatiane Hodson at brasiltravel.com. I put together a group of 10 people and the cost was $380 US for an 8 hour day, or $38 per person (plus lunch). Incredible. We had a great guide (Harold), professional and knowledgable. Highly recommend you use them.
Aussie Gal Posted June 28, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 28, 2007 We used Carlos of Private Tours when in Buenos Aires last year. He was highly recommended on the Ports of Call Board for South America and we had a great tour. His website is: http://www.privatetours.com.ar/ His friend Pedro Novak works out of Rio and also comes highly recommended. http://www.privatetours.com.br/ Both men promptly answer any emails sent to them.
