Guides for South America

Hi Sophie,

There is a Ports section on Cruise Critic. If you scroll down to it and hit on South America, there is a large amount of info on guides in S.A.

We used Portcompass several years ago and were most happy with their services.

We are looking for guides in Rio, Buenos Aires, Montedvideo, Sao Paulo-Santos for small group of 2-8 people. Any suggestions.

Thanks

If you go to Yahoo groups..OceanaCruiser · Oceania Cruises Message Board ..

and look up postings.. there is a report by a gentleman named Jon.. we were with him ,on some private tour guides in those ports... He also wrote up the whole cruise,, Buenos Aires to Rio ..whyme71842@aol.com

Agree with Sheila...go to the Cruise Critic Ports of Call section..On our cruises in SA we found lots of info there..

We also used Port Compass in several areas & were pleased with their service...Enjoy your cruise..Betty

I'm an American expat who has lived in Rio for 5 years married to a Brasilian.

For a good bilingual ( multi lingual) Rio guide try Maria Yolen of Riocustomtours.com.br. She has a new SUV and knows her way around.

Based on a cruisecritic member's recommendation, I contacted Tatiane Hodson at brasiltravel.com. I put together a group of 10 people and the cost was $380 US for an 8 hour day, or $38 per person (plus lunch). Incredible. We had a great guide (Harold), professional and knowledgable. Highly recommend you use them.

We used Carlos of Private Tours when in Buenos Aires last year. He was highly recommended on the Ports of Call Board for South America and we had a great tour. His website is: http://www.privatetours.com.ar/

His friend Pedro Novak works out of Rio and also comes highly recommended.

Both men promptly answer any emails sent to them.
