Cell Phones?

This is probably a dumb question but I was wondering about cell phone experiences on the cruise and in Alaska. Do they work? Is roaming excessive?

We have Cell 1 service with free nationwide long distance and roaming. Last July I had cell service in Juneau and Skagway so I took advantage of using it. To my surprise there was no long distance or roaming when my cell bill came! Am going to Alaska again in July and am hoping for the same cell use.

I didn't get any service in Skagway but had service in Ketchikan and Juneau- but not far past the boarders from the ship. I also head to librarys sometimes for quick and free internet access.

It's free only for frequent Princess cruisers, right?

Public libraries. Our local one is free and they dont even ask to see your library card!
