Just off of the Liberty

Chair hogging is bad on almost all ships.. before breakfast may be too late even

Thankfully we had no problem with chair hogs on the Legend. We used the pool at the back of the ship. I was always able to find a chair.

Shortstop95 I agree with you I would never go on a cruise where John Head is the CD. Not only does he repeat the same jokes: but he stages every act. He promises prizes to get people to make fools of themselves. His dear john letters are also staged.

We were on the same sailing and didn't have any problems with kids on our deck (Lido - 9). The rest of our family stayed on the Panorama Deck (10) and said that they experienced a lot of floor noise, but it wasn't teenagers, it was the newlyweds and their party across the hall that drove them nuts.

We had our 2 small children with us (ages 3 and 1) so I worried about middle of the night (and middle of the night starts around 10:30pm for us) hall noises, but had nothing of the sort.

I really enjoyed the week. We don't spend much time by the pools (my little one is too young to go in) and when we do we're not looking to lay out, so chair hogs weren't a problem for us, but when we went to breakfast around 8:30 there were always plenty for the taking. I think our lack of annoyances can be partially attributed to the fact that we cruise on different hours :)

DH and I visited the Chocchoben Ruins in Costa Maya and had a blast.

The food was good, but not as good as when we sailed on the Spirit in 6/02. My family, who was cruising Carnival the first time said they much preferred the food on RC and Princess, but that the Carnival bathrooms make up for the difference so it's a wash for them.

My 3 year old LOVED Camp Carnival and my 1 year old enjoyed the open playtime on sea days.

Embarkation took us a while, no line, but we did several room changes for our party of 10 (which we tried to do over the phone before hand but they told us to do it on site). We were moved the VIP and were taken GREAT care of, so while it did take about 45 minutes, it's because we were are a ridiculously needy party, but the staff worked hard and did it all with a smile.

DH and I went to Harry's on Wednesday night and it was a lot of fun and well worth the cost. The food was great and it was nice to leave the kids with Grandma and Grandpa (and Aunt and Uncle for the evening). Before Harry's we went to the past guest party for cocktails, the casino and an auction preview.

We've only sailed Carnival and have been very happy, I'm sure we'll sail Carnival again, but DH and I are open to trying other lines when we cruise (without the kids) in the Spring. We may go for RC because we can sail out of Baltimore or Norfolk.

Like any vacation, cruises are what you make of them, and we had a wonderful time. We were online planning our next one the day we got home.

could you elaborate a bit more on this.. I have a 2 year old sailing in august and too young to use the camps. I do know that there we can use the camp from noon til 2...

is it only on sea days?? or can we use it during port days too?

are there other kids in there>?

If your child is 2, they are not too young. Camp Carnival has a 2-5 year program loaded with (free) activities that runs from about 8:30am -10pm daily (closes for lunch).

If your child is under 2 then on sea days the Playroom will open for 2 hours (12pm-2pm and 1pm-3pm for us). At this time you can accompany your child in the playroom OR you can check them in for babysitting (under 2s ONLY) at a charge of $6hr ($4 for second child). When I was there it was me and my 20mo DD and 2 babies in babysitting service (each about 8mos). Those babies had a 1 to 1 ration with Camp staff and were being very well taken care of.

Under 2s can also go to babysitting each night from 10pm- 3am at the same cost. At this time they will be in the same room as kids up to 5 years, but the younger room camp was always so empty on our cruise that I wouldn't worry about that. I'd have sent my little one with no hesitation, granted, her sister would be with her. We never ended up using the service.

We found that the arcade was near empty all day every day and provided a great place for the kids to run dance and play (and they are young enough that they don't care if we pay for the driving games, they just like to steer). With no one in there, and the noise from the machines it was great for them to be loud and play without being in anyone's way or having to keep their voices down. I think we only saw 2 people in there at most with us, and it's so large that we would often be in a whole separate room.

Have fun!

hopefully your cruise was an exception due to it being "graduation" time. we cruise just about every summer, and only once (and it was the end of june also) did we have teenagre graduation issues. other cruises in july were fine. all the same, sorry that happened on your cruise.

i have a question about movies under the stars. 3 movies seems like a lot. what happens to lido. it dies? no nighttime entertainment? deck parties? buffets? i usually hang out on lido a lot a night. always people milling about. was 3 movies too many, or just right?

Just on the Liberty, June 9-June 17, and felt that the security did a great job with responding to "teen calls" and were readily available when problems were going on. No problems with anyone in the hallways or anything of the sort. We took the 8 day-er so our iten. was different. Great cruise though! Sorry you had teen/kid problems.

Happy Cruising to all!:)

There were deck parties, but only on specific nights. There were always people outside watching the movies whenever we passed by. Some nights more then others. At one of the outside lido deck bars they even had a popcorn machine going.

The movie screen has stuff on it all day-- in the morning you will see news or the program with the cruise director telling you about the day.

Notice on the nights of the deckparties --they start at 11:30 with music starting at 11pm.

and if you dont want to watch the movies you can always go to the aft to the pool back there.
