Phinda Forest Lodge

Has anybody taken the OVERNIGHT Phinda Forest Lodge shore excursion from Richards Bay, South Africa with Silversea.

If so, can you please advise me how much it cost per person and also any relevant information.

I will check on the price. It was a terrific "camp" (hardly an appropriate word for those accommodations)! I also remember the morning drive before we returned to the ship. It was HOT...like 103,104 and the crew was setting up for the BBQ! Still worth it though.

Can I also ask what time of year you took this excursion and if you saw much game?

We were in Phinda on Dec 15, 2005. It was a small group since there are not a lot of accommodations. There was LOTS of great game and as I mentioned, it is a beautiful camp. My hubby thinks he recalls that it cost about $1000 for the overnight/per person, meals and transportation included. Hope this helps.

We did the overnite at Richards Bay on same cruise.

 

www.safarinow.com click on Hluhluwe and see what you can find for an alternative. We rented a car and did an overnite at a game lodge and it was fantastic to stop wherever we wanted along the way. Arrived just in time for the evening game drive and awakened at 4 AM for the morning drive. There are much better places for game viewing in South Africa than this area.
