Who has been in Tahiti May 8-Victory Day Holiday?

I read in the South Pacific handbook by "Moon Travel" that May 8th is a Holiday, and "everything" will be closed, possibly even the day before and day after. I am trying to think of what we would do besides stay at hotel if that is true.

We were there on the TP during this period. Some stores were open just during the morning until about 10am-12pm. Not much of an issue with the cruise ship near by...I wouldn't let this change your plans. One local told us that May is filled with holiday's and I believe there were three while we were there. Still it did not cause any problems...tourism continues.

Thank you for answering my post, I was beginning to think no one had been to Tahiti in May!:D

If we rent a car I don't see any problems, it was the transportation and possibly tours that I was concerned about, if we don't. I'm sure we will be able to get to the ship from our hotel either via transfer or taxi, don't you think?

The shopping I hope we can do the day we arrive (about 2 days before) or the day the ship sails.

 

Anyway we will be in Tahiti and that is all that matters!:)
