Car rentals

ok. I've learned here that you need to have your reservations before you get there, for availability and even being able to get on the shuttles---- so how much time in advance of your cruise did you sign up for your cars?

We had our reservations set up months in advance. However, I kept an eye on the prices (checked about once a week) and ended up getting a lower price about 2 weeks before we left on one of the rentals. I knew there were only a couple of companies I was willing to rent from (based on prior personal experience), so it was not hard to check current rates periodically.

 

One person that was in line with me at Hertz when we rented the day before we embarked had made their reservation just a few days before for a convertible and ended up with a regular sedan because they were out and he was one of the last reservations to be made.

Same here, I did mine at least 4 months in advance. Rented Thrifty in Hilo and Kauai, had great experiences both times.
