Marriott - room, transfers & check in in advance - anyone have info on this?

I heard that the Marriott Hotel in Waikiki Beach offers a package to NCL passengers which includes the room, transfers (airport to hotel; hotel to ship; ship to airport), and NCL check in at hotel with luggage transfer.

Does anyone know anything about this program?

How much does it cost?

We have these perks from NCL but you need to book directly through NCL. If you book the Marriott yourself without going through NCL you can not get the perks. Our TA recommeded that we stay here, she said it was absolutely beautiful..You can get your boarding passes, and take care of all of your ships paperwork, reservations for the speciality restaurants onboard, transfer from the hotel to the ship, they will take your luggage the day of embarkment from the hotel and will deposit it for you on the ship, you leave it in your room and they pick it up. When you get to the ship you just get in a special line and you can board the ship (because all of the paperwork is done) You can sight see and you do not have to worry about carting your luggage all around with you. We are traveling in Feb. 2008. All of this included if you book through NCL. I hope that helps..If you are using a TA ask her to get you a quote from NCL.

Plenty of shopping, restaurants, beach just outside the Marriott, just take a walk to your right and you'll pass many of these. A ten minute walk to get you to Duke's Canoe Club, Chuck's Steak House (Outrigger), Cheescake Factory, try the Banyan Tree Bar, sunsets (Outside at the Moana Surfrider).

When you arrive at the Marriott, there will be a NCL Rep just inside the door set up at a table to welcome you with a Lei and if you arrive after 3:00 PM she will have your room keys in an envelope.

We sailed the Pride of Aloha, we arrived on Thursday 3 days early also and was told we could check in for the ship Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We checked in Friday late afternoon, no lines, no wait, took 5 minutes (Have all of your cruise doc's and ID's). You can also book a specialty restaurant at the NCL desk for your first night on the ship if you wish.

Luggage is picked up at 8:00 am the day of your cruise in your room, you do not need to be present. The luggage goes directly to the ship, you see it next in your room on the ship. Take your carryon bags with you on the bus.

You receive bus transfers at check in, our bus left at 12:15 PM the day of the cruise, there was also a 12:30 and 1:30 bus, the sooner you check in the earlier bus you get. You will pick up your cruise card at the Pier, there is an express line for the Marriott after you clear security.

We are thinking of booking this package, but we wanted to do a shore exc. that day. We are on the Sept. 29 th 11 day cruise which actually stays in Honolulu overnight the first night of the cruise and we've been told that we can check in with the cruise later than 6 pm which is why we booked a land exc. with an outside tour company.

Also, on the first posting in this, they said it included transp. from Airp. to hotel. My understanding is Airp. to Hotel is on your own.

A transfer can be purchased to the hotel on certain days, there was not one available for us since we had a three day pre-cruise, we used Roberts of Hawaii for transportation, slow but only $9 per person

As for the day of embarkation you can book a tour that day through the NCL office at the Marriott and your baggage will still be picked up at 8:00 am that morning and after the tour you will be dropped off at the ship.

Or you can book an excursion on your own and make arrangements to get to the ship.

These perks only work well if it corresponds with your schedule. We thought about doing this, but we also wanted to make the most of our day in Honolulu and wanted to do the Grand Circle tour.

Since this leaves so early in the morning, they said they could not give us the perk of checking us in there rather than the ship since that usually starts around 10 or so and we wouldn't be there. Yes, if we booked our tour thru NCL they would get our luggage there and drop us off there, but that was all they could do for us. This would cost us 318. Plus the Grand circle we have booked is with RobertsHawaii and their Grand circle tour from our hotel is only 83.76 (tax incl) for the BOTH of us. For the same tour that NCL offers for 89. EACH!!!plus tax

The hotel we had planned on staying at is only 76 a night (tax incl)(Senior discount) and seems like a pretty nice hotel. Since we only want to use the hotel for the night before the cruise, we couldn't see spending all this extra money for the little we'd be entitled to. Plus, we are hoping that there will not be too many people checking in at 5 pm or so. We've been told by 3 different supervisors from NCL that since our Sept. 29th POA doesn't actually leave the pier that night, that we can check in later.:)

So, just make sure you weigh all your options.

Could you please tell me which hotel you are staying at that has a senior rate of $76/night? TIA.

We are staying at Queen Kapiolai hotel. There was a post today where they stayed at that hotel. They said that it was one of the older hotels and shows some wear, but that it was very adequate and the restaurant had good food and reasonably priced.

We are coming in late at night on Sept. 27th and leaving the next day so it didn't really matter how fancy the hotel was, We just need somewhere to rest our weary heads!

If you want to book this, do NOT book it on line. Even though on line it looks like it is the hotel itself, they use an outside company that charges more than the hotel directly with a cancellation charge besides.

If you call the hotel directly, ask for the Senior rate. We even got an oceanview for cheaper than a city view on line.

Just know that it is not fancy.

The phone number is 800 367 2317. Of course it also depends when you are going as to what the rate will be. I believe Sept, when we are going is "low" season.
