Venice Dock

Can someone please give me an idea as to how far away the dock is in Venice from the tourist highligts? We are planning part ship tour/part on our own (we're there for 2 days). Is it walkable? How long will it take from St. Mark's square to the ship?

There are two different docks in Venice. It depends which your ship uses. Walking to St. Mark's Square would be problematical from either one. If you are young and active and have a good map you might do it.

 

Most ships run a shuttle service direct to St. Mark's. From the dock we were at it was also possible to take the local vaporetto if you had Euros.

 

Two hours before sailing time the lines for the shuttle back to the ship were impossible! A long long wait in the hot sun.
