Hello, we are flying into the tampa airport and will need to get to the port of call for the legend on 9-9-07, also we need to get back to the airport after our cruise, there are 3 of us. Just wondering what is everyone's take on either a cab or using the Carnival transportation.

A taxi to the port will be faster and only cost about $20, plus you won't have to wait until the shuttle fills up before it leaves.

We just got off the Legend Sunday..... it's a beautiful ship, and Tampa is a very easy port to embark/debark from.

I agree, a taxi would probably be the least expensive way to get to and from the port with three people. I've heard there is a set rate between the two which means traffic shouldn't make a difference.

Heres an even better tip. If you go down to the baggage claim area and walk all the way to the far end of the hallway you will see the sign above the exit saying GROUND TRANSPORTATION. Go outside. There is a booth setup and you can pay for a shuttle. The shuttle is only $10 and they will drop you right in front of the entrance to the port building. They are also available the day you return for same price! $10 a person

That is a very good tip for just one or maybe two people, but the OP has three in their party. That $30 would be more than a single taxi would cost.

Are the Taxis right outside at the port or do you have to call them?
There are taxis there, but since we weren't in a hurry (late flight) we just jumped on one of the shuttle buses and paid $18 cash (for two). If you want a taxi there is someone there to help you, and the Tampa port is much easier than Miami.

It's very organized; they are lined up in front of the Channelside complex. They have room for about 5 or 6 cabs in the drive-through pickup line & wave them in as spots come available. There will be plenty of cabs available - both cars and minivans if your party is such that you need more space.

So for 4 people to get to the Port in a hurry (our flight arrives in Tampa at 12:00pm) the fastest and inexpensive way would be to use Bay Shuttle? $11 P/P? Can someone confirm this. Thanks for the help.

Between the airport and pier, the taxis have a flat rate of $22. If the four of you, and your luggage can fit in a cab, that would be the least expensive. The four of us cannot get into a regular taxi with our luggage, but we do fit into a mini-van taxi. There are quite a few of these in Tampa. I believe the cab would be faster too.

Take a taxi. No waiting to fill up a bus and around $20 plus tip. We were on the Miracle a few years ago and the cabbie took all 5 of us from the port to the airport. We plan on doing that again in November on the Legend.
