seattlekckckc Posted November 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2007 Ahh, the Pride of America. I was on that ship in March, it really is as hideous on the inside as it looks in the pics! Althouhg, I must say, it doesnt hold a CANDLE to how ugly the Carnival Legend was! With 27 Princess cruises under my belt, being on these...ornate...ships makes me realize I am a Princess Princess! Casey Hi Seattle from Northern Ca, I was happy to read your comments about the NCL ship. After 18 princess cruises I was tempted to try NCL but for some unknown reason I could not get myself to book a cruise on one of them. Now I know my instinct was right, I have never been disapointed with any of my Princess cruises,I do like the larger ships better and wished Princess had not bought 3 of the old R ships, and trying to palm them of as new vessels which they are definatly not. I am looking forward to my and DH christmas/ new years cruise on the Diamond P. to Hawaii for 15 glorious days round trip from L.A. Just like you I feel like a Princess too.:)

BigGuy25 Posted November 10, 2007 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2007 We sailed for 12 days on the Tahitian Princess (R-ship) this summer and LOVED it. That's not to say we don't like big ships. They all have their advantages. But, the intimate Tahitain Princess was a great voyage.

calisota Posted November 19, 2007 #13 Share Posted November 19, 2007 http://www.planettrekker.info/cruise/ Bill Thanks for the link to my blog! I'm not sure if it's the sort of thing that everyone on this board would want to read since it is a warts and all view of life as a cashier in a cruise ship casino but I would be doing myself a disservice if I was anything other than completely honest. However it may be of interest to some, there are lots of first impressions of the ports that I visited and the friends and family I was sending it to certainly gave me positive feedback. It may also show some details of the pay/tips for crew you wouldn't first think of when the discussion comes up. There will also be photos going up as I sort out the 6000 I came home with at the end of the contract. :) Greg

I am supposed to be starting a new contract in just 2 weeks but am still waiting to hear which ship they plan to send me back to. I'm hoping that it will be different ports (I would love to get to Europe or Alaska) and I'll be continuing the blog when I get back on board. Pam in CA Posted November 19, 2007 #20 Share Posted November 19, 2007 what is an old R ship, hope i`m not on one,lol Calling the R-ships "old" is pretty much a misnomer. Some of them are newer than many other Princess ships. The R ships are the former Renaissance Cruises ships, several of which were built in the early 2000's. They are small, with about 700 passengers, and very elegant. The former R-class ships that are currently with Princess are the Tahitian, Pacific and Royal Princess. Pam in CA Posted November 19, 2007 #22 Share Posted November 19, 2007 Here's another crew blogger site: http://www.crewoffice.blogspot.com/ He used to post regularly but changed cruiselines and the site isn't updated very frequently. Still, there is a lot of interesting information on this site.

EAC Posted November 21, 2007 #24 Share Posted November 21, 2007 have enjoyed your comments on the Caribbean Princess -- had been on it several years ago and enjoyed the cruise very much but to also hear what the crew does was great. Hope you get your choice next. (Also saw your great pictures of the Great Wall!).
calisota Posted November 21, 2007 #25 Share Posted November 21, 2007 (Also saw your great pictures of the Great Wall!). The Great Wall was an amazing experience, one of those things that everyone should do at some point in their life. In fact it is one of my credos of life that everyone should travel.
