Looking for Tour of Island

We are looking for a good tour of the best of St. Lucia. We have been wanting to go there for a long time and we finally get to go. We have read alot about Cosol but he stops at a beach and we are not beach goers. Do you have to stay at the beach or is it close enough to be taken back to the ship instead?

Would like to do some small souvenir type shopping.

All suggestions and replies are helpful. Thanks so much. :)

Just to clarify - our van (not a bus) was not crowded at all when we took Cosol's tour. There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room to stretch out and lots of room for our bags, etc. I know he tries not to overbook (which is why you should book early).

I understand you don't wish to go to the beach, so Cosol's tour may not be for you. I have heard, however, that sometimes Cosol divides his tour up and arranges for one of the vans to return to the port and skip the beach stop, for folks who aren't interested in it. It may be worth emailing him and asking about it if you think you may be interested in his tour other than the beach stop.

Cosol can do a private tour. The four of us voted for this...not a lot more. Then he has some family members to help him out and they do the same tour...but totally customized or they stay together then branch off to wherever some one wants to go.

Our tour was: down the island...stopping at banana groves, and coconuts stops and the such; stopped at a "tavern" for the potty break and view; on to Soufries to the volcano; to the Butterfly (?) Farm/Gardens; back to town with stops along the way. Then he asked if we wanted the beach or ship or what? We voted for the beach. We opted to stay for just an hour and a half. Was nice...they had spots to just sit watch and relax.

Generally we have never needed a private tour since all of our tours on the other islands have involved beach time and a good majority of folks do not want the beach so the more popular tour operators with more than one van/bus do have at least one van/bus to take a group back to the ship or drop off in town to shop.
