Getting married on The Explorer of the Seas

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I will be getting married on The Explorer of the Seas on May 9,2008! Will be getting married at port the day of sailing. Afterwards we will be having approximately 20 or so guests joining us on the cruise. I was just trying to get some feedback from anyone else who may have gotten married on this ship. What your experience was like, any helpful advice and such.

i was married on the sovereign of the seas. we had 40 people attend and 20 people sail with us. It was a wonderful experience. we had to have 2 wedding coordinaters and they answered all my questions as soon as we boarded. All my guests were drinking in the schooner lounge and relaxing while I went and changed. the coordinator called the room and said she was on her way up to get me and the wedding started. After the wedding the photographer takes lots of pictures. he took us all over the ship for some great shots. then we returned to our guests and had a great lunch buffet with open bar. the only extras we did....I had drink koozies made with our names and date of the wedding as favors for all the guests. And for all the sailing guests i made gift bags for there rooms. the coordinators were nice enough to deliver them to the rooms..the bag included...sunblock, underwater camera, chapstick, some candy, a hat. everyone thought it was a nice touch. It was a wonderful experience and my friends still all tak about it and it was 4 years ago. Our photographer showed up that night at dinner in the dining room with all of our pictures so everyone got to look at them...and everyone bought there own. it was really great. hope this was helpful..

I was married almost a year ago (I can't believe it went so fast) on Explorer...it was so perfect I wish I could relive the day again :D I copied my original review below and also put a link in to my pictures...let me know if you have any questions:

Let me just start by saying everything was perfect!!!

Embarkment:

Awesome.. We took a limobus for the bridal party to the Bayonne from Long Island and actually arrived a little early. As soon as we got to the peir there was a table set up for all nonsailing guests to sign in and go through to the waiting area. As soon as the boat cleared customs we were the first on and there were absolutely no lines for check-in. We had 50 nonsailing guest and 49 sailing guests. The wedding cooridantors along with the officant (Captain Arnold) met us in the waiting area. We were on the ship at 11:30am and I was escorted to my room and my husband to his.

Cooridnators:

They were amazing, organized and professional. Mimi was fantastic and stuck by my side through everything. I had plenty of time to touch up my make up and get dressed. My ceremony was starting at 1. My cooridnators went above and beyond!

Captain Arnold/ceremony:

Let me just say that this was the most beautiful ceremony I could have imagined. He contacted us a few days before to get some information and see if we wanted enchancments(we went with a beautiful sand ceremony). People told me that this was the most amazing ceremony they have ever heard. If you have captain arnold you are in luck you truely have the best.

Location:

Maharaja's Lounge was beautiful and the perfect size. The ceremony was set up nicely and flowed right into the reception with no problems.

Reception:

Bar service was quick and efficent everyone always had a drink in hand and we have alot of drinkers in our group. The buffet was set up wonderfully and I heard the food was quite tastey I only had a small bite. I was so caught up in the excitement. The DJ was fantastic and kept the dance floor busy. As soon as we were announced in we had our first dance, the father daughter dance and the mother son dance. From there the buffet opened and the toasts began. Then the dancing and the party took off.

Cake:

Beautiful and tasted amazing, more then i expected!!!!

Pictures:

Came out beautiful and we had lots of time. They were taken through out the ceremony and reception and then after the reception we were taken around the boat for couple shots. Just a little word of advice if you have nonsailing guest in the wedding party do your group shots before the reception we are missing one of our groomsmen in our group shots.

Well I dont know if i left anything out but the cruise itself was amazing and so much fun as well. any question feel free to ask. I will attach a link for pictures
