montelco Posted July 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2007    What is the best time of year to cruise in Asia. Thanks! We have been in Vietnam and Koi Samui in April 2006 and it was pleasant though hot as you would expect. Thunderstorms every afternoon in Singapore around 3pm. You could almost set your clock! We had a brilliant day up the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. Blue Skies and sunshine .When we did the Superstarship Virgo cruise in September 2004, there was the Mooncake Festival in Singapore which was interesting and the weather was again fine and warm up through the Straits of Malacca. Guides provided raincoats for the sudden tropical showers but we only used them twice. This time we are trying November on the Sapphire Princess so we will see what it is like then. Reputed to be the best time for that part of the world.
montelco Posted July 20, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2007  This is the second time I am trying to answer because I am still new at this. We have been to Asia twice. Our Superstarship Virgo cruise 2004 was in September during the Mooncake Festival in Singapore and we travelled up the Straits of Malacca to Phuket via Penang. Weather was beautiful. Hot ,of course, but that goes without saying. Guides have raincoats if needed but we only used them rarely. Our April 2005 cruise up via Koh Samui and Ho Chi Minh City was fine weather again for the most part, the exception being Singapore where it stormed every afternoon about 3pm. You could set your clock by it! Our cruise up the Mekong was in brilliant sunshine under blue skies! Very humid though so bring a hankerchief. We are trying November this time on the Sapphire Princess since it is reputed to be the best time to visit China and that part of the world so we will see! Hope this helps.:)
Donyb Posted July 20, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2007 Which cruise are you doing in Nov. Montelco? If you're on the 11/2 departure, please join our thread for that cruise. We want to meet as many people as possible. Nancy
