Has anyone seen Tata?

We did the 9/16/06 Istanbul to Athens run and our most favorite deck steward (and that of most everyone else on that Windstar cruise) was Tata. We'll be on Windsurf on 10/7 for Venice to Rome and are hoping Tata has signed back up and will be on Windsurf. Has anyone seen him on a trip lately? If so, which boat is he on?

TaTa was on the Wind Spirit, on the Rome to Athens cruise, May 5th. He was as enjoyable as always. Some of the stewards are planning to try to find work at home, because they miss their families so badly, but I don't think he was.

Just returned from Athens-Istanbul and Tata was keeping everyone happy. He did mention he would be starting hios vacation right after our trip.

Thanks, all, for the updates.

Hi, Patty (ChicagoGal)...we're on the 10/7 Venice to Rome cruise...would love to hear any tips, don't misses, try to avoids, or similar info from your Venice to Rome experience. We'll have 4 nights in Venice and 4 nights in Rome in addition to the cruise.

Hope you had a fabulous time on your trip, and thank you in advance for any insight!

Karen

Hi Karen,

Are you already all set on hotels for pre and post cruise? I can HIGHLY recommend our Venice hotel 2 weeks ago...only 14 rooms on the Grand Canal at the Palazzo Sant Angelo. They were so good to us, and the hotel was fabulous. We were celebrating our anniversary and booked the "Romance Package" (which was a very good value since Venice is so expensive) It included a bottle of Prosecco in our suite, a fabulous dinner at the restaurant "ai Mercanti" with wine, a private gondola ride, a trip to Murano, a concert at a church and they upgraded our room to one overlooking the Grand Canal. I also highly recommend the multi-day pass for the water taxis which can be very expensive without it. We paid 30 euros each for 3 day passes and more than got our moneys worth. If you like art, we really enjoyed the Peggy Guggenheim museum. Going over to Lido was fun, especially because we were there during the Venice Film Festival too.

A few years ago we stayed at the Excelsior in Rome right near the Villa Borghese (a visit to which is highly recommended!) and thought that hotel was quite nice too. We did not stay in Rome this trip. The "hop on - hop off" bus is a great way to get around Rome inexpensively and you can atke it around once to get a good introduction to the city by listening to the lecture.

The cruise was wonderful (our 6th on Windstar) The updates on the ship and in the cabins are great and the food and service were as good as ever. We especially liked the Dubrovnik/wine country excursion and also the Taorimina and Pompeii excursions offered from the ship. We wish we had a lot more time in most of the ports.

What other questions do you have? Have a WONDERFUL trip!
