elaineb Posted July 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2007 I live in RI - Newport is great. Can't imagine they substituted with New London which frankly has not much there. There is a waterfront park....Its claim to fame is that is it close to Foxwoods Casino. A much nicer town, IMHO is Mystic, CT which is not far from New London. There is a wonderful aquarium, and right by the aquarium lots of wonderful little shops. The Mystic Seaport is also great to visit. Even downtown Mystic has lots of wonderful little shops and restaurants. Maybe you could rent a vehicle and venture off to Mystic??? It's about 15-20 minutes north on I-95. Here are some websites which may be helpful: New London http://www.ci.new-london.ct.us/ Mystic: http://www.mysticaquarium.org/ http://www.mysticseaport.org/ http://www.mystic.org/

rpinphx1 Posted July 22, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted July 22, 2007 I have my TA on this tmrw am RCCL cust. svc has been beyond uncooperative & unprofessional. They won't answer and questions, just switch me from person to person. Nice that they waited til after final payment for the bait and switch. All RCCL kept repeating was: look @ the fine print. We reserve the right..... Yes, it's true but not ethical when you are a cruiseline who knows before final payment this is a probability. Not a good move for repeat business. sirgeb27 Posted July 31, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I was also a little upset by the switch (I was looking forward to the seafood festival!) but when I called they were very helpful. They said a ship of our size had not been in Newport yet. Newport was building something to accommodate for our ship- and it's not done yet. Now that's what they said... who knows if it's true. elaineb Posted August 1, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 1, 2007 One day last summer we happened to be in Newport when a large Princess ship was in port. It wasn't docked, it was tendered. I don't know why your ship couldn't do the same, unless there are not enough tenders for the amount of people??
