Kauai car rental?

I'll be on the Island Princess Hawaii cruise 12/20 and plan to rent a car on Kauai to take to both Poipu beach and Kukuiolono golf course in Kalaheo, but am unsure if car rental agencies are at the harbor-does anyone know? Any referrals on a good company?

Last time we were there (March 2003) we used Alamo. There are no car rental companies at the port. They are all at the airport, which is about a 10 minute ride (at most) from the port. Alamo had a regular shuttle that went back and forth to get people to and from their site at the airport. We are using them again when we go on the Island Princess in November. You can book on-line, then just get the shuttle at dock.

We are just back from the 7/31 11-Day Hawaiian cruise on the NCL Wind, and we also used Alamo in Kauai it was very easy to reserve on line, and they do run the shuttle about every 20 minutes. We used the infamous 6T code, we checked the prices, and found that it does tend to change from time to time, so if you are looking for the best rate it does not hurt to recheck. When the price dropped, we simply cancelled our existing reservation, and then rebooked a new one. Alamo does not require a credit card for reservations, and you can cancel then rebook as needed for a great deal.

We also used Alamo and were very pleased. There are shuttles at the dock to take you to the rental car offices at the airport. This applies to all of the different rental car agencies. Try that 6T code. We did really well on all of the islands with it.
