Anyone done Ephesus on your own... if so, how?

We'll only be in Kusadasi from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m... not a lot of time in port. We've seen Ephesus twice before but we really want to see the Terrace Houses that have recently been excavated.

 

Will there be taxis at the dock or near the dock? Should we have a taxi driver wait for us or will there be taxi's waiting for fares after we're done?
