1kathy Posted July 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2007 We will arrive in Ft. Lauderdale after a cruise in Jan. and can take between 3 to 6 days to sightsee. Are the Everglades close by and worth seeing. Maybe Key West? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Bequia Posted July 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2007 Both the Everglades and Key West are worth seeing. Here's a link to our local papers travel guide. Under "destinations" they list some neat day trips and under "city guide" local attractions. It's a great town, you'll have a blast. ;) http://www.sun-sentinel.com/travel/
tomko2 Posted July 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2007 The drive to Key West is beautiful -- don't let the mileage fool you -- the drive is somewhat slow and takes longer than you would expect. Key West is fun and funky. If you rent a car you could easily drive over to Marco Island or Naples on the West Coast --- beautiful beaches on the gulf. The drive is about 1 1/2 hrs. from Fort Lauderdale along Alligator Alley aka I-75. The weather in January can be cool so plan for a variety of weather; it usually is not wet but it can be on the cool side. Check the Florida Tourism site for more info on fun things to see and do. If you have travelled to get there you might as well leverage the trip and see some of beautiful South Florida. Kathy
