Preorder soda card?

Can you pre-order a soda card so that it will be ready when we get there, or do I have to wait and purchase it on board? Just would like to have everything pre-paid that I can! Just decided I'd rather go with the convenience than trying to lug around a 12 pack of drinks and maybe a collapsable cooler. After all, it's vacation! And the same question for the buckets of beer... can I order those ahead of time (coupon or whatever?)

You can order the things from the gifts section - there are several with beer in it but that would be more expensive. What you can do is call Carnival and have money put onto your account that will be waiting for you when you board then you can order what you want. When I bought the soda card though you had to use cash. I don't know if that is still the case though.

Does anyone know the current prices for soda cards for kids? Is it worth it?

Depends on the length of the cruise and what day you buy it. It goes down as the days go down on your cruise. As far as being worth it, that will depend on how much soda you drink. They get I think roughly 2 bucks a soda.

I didn't have to pay cash last year on the Elation--- they just put it on the S&S card. Don't worry about prepaying though-- it only takes about 2 minutes, and then you just pay it with the balance of your S&S card.

It is worth it if you drink a lot of soda... DH and I usually share a card (you can only have one name on the card though) so it ends up working out for us in the end.

Can you use it in the dining room?

Yes.

A bar server takes orders for mixed drinks, wine and soda in the dining room. Show him/her the soda card the first night. After that, if s/he is really good, your soda will be there when you sit down to dinner. :p

SODA CARD ON SIGN AND SAIL CARD. Have gotten them since we started cruising last fall. Too bad frequent cruisers can't buy one and use it on all cruises. OH well.

SAIL AND SIGN CARD TO PAY FOR SODA CARD. Been getting them like that since last fall. Too bad frequent cruisers can not use the same card over and over and over and you get the point.

Is it true that the price is less if you purchase the soda card after the ship leaves US waters because they don't tax it at that point?

I was looking at the Carnival FAQ and they seem to allow passengers to bring on a reasonable amount of non-alcolholic beverages. I may bring a six pack or two for my kids (okay, maybe a diet coke or diet sierra mist for me too).
