Resident Discount

Recommended Posts

Have any of you received the resident discount? Many online TAs ask for this (you select your state or put in your zip code as they say you may quailify for a special discount). If so, I was curious to know which cruise line, what month you travelled, etc.

Many cruise lines do this but I don't think you can predict when they do it and on what itineraries. But if you hit it right you save a few bucks.:) :D :D :)

We have a resident discount on our cruise next month, RCL Echantment, 5n, paid $342pp inside cabin. Then we also booked Carnival for Dec, got the resident discount again, $435pp OV.

You are a resident of what state?

My sister, niece, youngest son, and I sailed on RCI's Explorer of the Seas in January 07 with a resident discount in a balcony cabin. I booked directly on RCI's website. I ran the rates first using my home state of Tennessee - no resident discount. When I plugged in my sister's home state of Kansas the resident discount popped up. We grabbed the rates and saved several hundred dollars. I run my home state alot and nothing ever pops up so I know the discount only applies to certain states. Plus, when you check in someone in the cabin has to have id from the applicable state to keep the discount at the time of sailing.

I've been cruising way too long and have never seen or received a resident discount. I don't think they give New Yorkers discounts :-(

Actually, I've seen quite a few. If you go to ecruises.com, you can plug in 2 different states at one time (which can end up being really convienient) and it'll show you what cruises you're eligible for residency rates. :)
