donna5 Posted August 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2007 Where are the best Visitor Centers in Edinburgh? Looking for maps, coupons, disounts, etc.
edinburgher Posted August 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2007 Although you will be able to pick up some leaflets, maps etc in lots of places including hotels, stations, museums, galleries, visitor attractions etc, for a full selection, the main Tourist Information Centre is on Princes St. On the same side as the gardens opposite the shops. Its close to the Balmoral hotel which has a clock on a tall tower. Look for the clock and make your way there. Next to that are stairs leading down into Waverley Rail Station and next to that is a flat area which is paved and landscaped. Its the roof of Princes Mall which is below pavement level. You will see a large pointed sign which rises from the paved area. The entrance is there.
2theship Posted August 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2007 If you're coming from a ship at South Queensferry and take the train to Edinburgh, there's a visitor's center at the train station when you get to the city. There may be other, bigger ones but that one seemed pretty complete.
edinburgher Posted August 11, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2007 PSCHEER. Unless you are referring to one INSIDE the station itself (Edinburgh Waverley) then we are both referring to the same one. It is located next to the top of the stairs which exit the station. profpeabody Posted August 18, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2007 Hi Donna - An off topic question - I see from earlier posts that you were in cabin 8001 on the Tahitian Princess. We are booked in that cabin for February 08. Did you like it? Hope you have a great trip!

The only traffic you get up there is from the staff and they naturally are much quieter than the passengers. It is the same as all the other minis. We2Cruzers Posted August 24, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2007 Thank you Transat_Jon for the terrific visitors guide - you've covered off quite a bit - and I can print it out and take it with me for our first visit to Edinburgh. We have three days prior to a TA cruise and we are really looking forward to our visit. LK
