Splinter Posted August 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2007 For those who may not be aware, Google Street View is now available for most areas of San Diego. There are other cities as well, including much of Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco If you go to Google Maps and put in the location address (your hotel, a local attraction, etc.) you will not only be able to see a map (either regular, aerial, or combo) but also can pick Street View and see a photograph of the street view (a 360 photo you can pan and zoom). This may be helpful to see the neighborhood around your hotel before you book. It is not real-time and the quality of the photography is sometimes not great, but it is not only helpful but fun to play with. For the most part residential streets are not available, but you can easily see on the map which streets are included.
geotrotter Posted August 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2007 I added here some amazing Street View from the last update (08/2007).
Splinter Posted August 13, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted August 13, 2007 That link does not work for me. By the way, I was mistaken. Seattle is not yet included.
Cruisin' Chick Posted August 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2007 I like checking out the satellite view of Google, but it (as does mapquest) have my house in entirely the wrong spot. Usually I just use these maps as general reference. Fortunately, emergency services uses an accurate mapping system.
