HMC snorkel question

We would like to snorkel on our own. Do they require that you

wear a snorkel vest? Thanks

There is no one really checking to see if you're wearing a vest or not if you're on your own. You do have to wear the vest if you're on the snorkle excursion to the back of the island. Actually vests are not a bad idea. It's not a life jacket, but a snorkle vest that you can inflate if you get in trouble or just get tired.
