It is happening again. Whenever I plan a vacation I am look forward to it and plan everything out months ahead of time. Then, the last week before we leave (after all the planning is done) I get way past excited and more into a panic mode. I can't sleep and I feel sick on my stomach. This started yesterday for me.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this. Please don't say "drink something." Tried that and it did not work.

Try ginger pills. I take them at least a week before I board and then throughout the cruise. Also, ginger ale works for me.

I'll second that...it won't help your nerves, but ginger pills are amazing at how well they work. If your nerves are bothering you, you might talk to your doctor about xanax....it an anti-anxiety medication (I actually use it for flying).

I second the suggestion for Xanax (alprazolam). I use it at bedtime week before the cruise so I can actually relax enough to sleep instead of going over every missed cruise scenario in my mind. I also use it for the plane - I hate flying! If you have a minor anxiety attack in the day, you can break the pill in half. Sometimes we all need a little help to get by. Starting your cruise sleep-deprived and stressed out is not a good thing. Talk to your doctor. And have a great cruise!

This may sound stupid, but along with ginger pills, watch your breathing. Focus on it. Take slow, deep breaths. Just be conscious of your breathing because sometimes when we get excited or scared we breathe shallowly and this can really make you feel awful, especially if you're doing it for long periods.

Try to relax with some soothing music too. Nothing sucks more than being nauseous. You have my deepest sympathy.

I also like Dan's suggestion :D
