QTPieRye Posted August 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2004 It was my understanding that when you purchase the fun fountain card that Carnival automatically adds a 15% gratuity to the total. Thus, I had a couple of questions regarding tipping while using the card. First of all, is this card a self-serve service where you have to go to a certain place on ship to order a coke? Or can you order poolside or in the casino, while playing bingo, etc.? If you do order and it is brought to you, are you expected to leave a tip in addition to the 15% already paid on the card? I was contemplating bringing a 12-pack of 20oz bottles of diet coke on board and not buying the fountain card, but decided that for convenience purposes the card may be the better route to go. Not to mention that the coke takes up a lot of precious room in the suitcase!!!
tef43 Posted August 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2004 15% is added to the price of the card when you purchase it to account for the gratuity. You may go to a bar, or order from a server anywhere on the ship. There is no receipt for you to sign as there would be if you were *purchasing* a drink. If you wish to leave a cash tip for your server, that is entirely up to you.
serene56 Posted August 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2004 You can not use the soda card for room service. There is no self serve soda fountain onboard. If you are playing bingo and want a soda ask the waiter that comes around--or head to a bar. the tip is already included on the card and you dont have to tip any more. You can carry on a case of soda- we carried on a 12 pack of pepsi using the plastic bag the store give you. If you are flying in ask your cab driver to stop at a store to pick up some.
