City Centre Shopping in Montego Bay

My DW (30), DS (10) & myslef (32) went to City Centre last October and did some shopping. It was much like all the reviews you read. There are several shops, typically selling the same things. They are very pricey at first but you can talk them way down on most items. My son wanted a LARGE bongo drum. The cost started out at $180 and we ended up paying $30. Be prepared to be ushered into each store and asked everytime you leave if you need a cab ride.

I wanted to make sure it was a decent, safe place to shop as we are taking my 76 year old mother and her husband along and she is already worried that Jamaica is not safe. We went to Ocho Rios two years ago and it was fine. All the info I've found about City Centre Plaza is just that it's where the in bond stores are located and it's a recommended shopping area. So, maybe we'll plan a shopping trip there.
