kathy16 Posted August 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2007 Who else is coming? We were on Wind Star to Costa Rica in February. Loved it. A little apprehensive since change of ownership. But, looking forward to spending time at the beaches. Hoping to fly down day before. What to do in St Thomas before cruise, and on the day we disembark for our late afternoon flight? jennib5426 Posted September 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2007 Me and my boyfriend will be in the cruise. Our second windstar cruise. We will also be staying an extra day in St. Thomas to relax after our cruise. Only 2 months and 2 weeks to go...
whatnot Posted September 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2007 If you are shoppers, then you should allow one day for the thousands of shops in Charlotte Amalie. St Thomas is a shopping mecca for watches, jewelry, etc. Prices can be good but you should shop around. Know what you are looking for before you go and what it costs in the US. Then bargain based on your info. Of course it is duty free for up to like $1600 per person. There are numerous beaches that you can take a cab to, or just pick up one of the guys in town that want to take you on an island tour. They are pushy but you do get to see the island if you don't have a car. If you are beach people then take a cab to Magens Bay. It is beautiful. You have seen many pictures of it in ads etc. Also, you can take a cab to the beach at the Marriott Morningstar. It is a public beach. There is a restaurant on the beach that you can have lunch in, and use the facilities. It's not as pretty as Magens Bay but a lot closer to the cruise ship terminals and airport. Have a great trip!
