I've read the official La Merce Holiday in Barcelona is September 24th...Will the tourist attractions/meseums/etc be closed??? Thanks in advance for any help/information you have to offer..We arrive that morning and hope to see some of the activities...

Sorry for the delay,

I've had a wonderful land based travel in Canada with my three kids and ten days without internet at my parents!

I'm back working again, that's life....

24th is holiday but the main tourist atractios will be open. Stores will be closed but in exchange many folkloric and traditional performances will bi held on street. Let me some days and I'l give you the links for the shcedule. If you have a look on my posts of last summer I think I gave information about this holiday in Barcelona.

I was in Barcelona in 2005 during this festival. It was amazing.. some of the stuff wasn't really advertised and by chance, while sitting on Las Ramblas having a drink, a procession passed by.

 

Correfoc (fire Run) is also well worth trying to catch but really, really loud.
