NYC Pier Parking

Doing Dawn's 9/1 Cruise to Nowhere and plan to park at the Pier. We also have 3 PM theatre tickets on 9/2. Is it a problem to leave our car for another day at the Pier parking lot? I know I'll be charged an additional day, but I'm not sure how we park our cars. We plan on seeing the play and then returning to pick up our car after the play. Is a parking attendant at the Pier on a daily basis or are they only there when the ships are there?
