Laughing Gull Posted August 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Hi I checked on drugstore . com and as far as I can see the adult and children's dose of the active ingredient (mezc....something) is the same. Is there something I am missing? Why are there two types? Thanks
RHefley228 Posted August 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2007 This seems odd; I think you should check with your doctor or pharmacist. The normal dosage for an adult is 50 mg (two tablets) and was not recommended for children under 12. Possibly this has changed, as the children's version now says 6 is the minimum age. Also, perhaps it's an error on the website and for the children's version it should read 12.5 mg. Perhaps a doctor or pharmacist will weigh in on this. Laughing Gull Posted August 20, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Thanks for replying. :o Oh I am soo embarassed! The adult version says "1 to 2 tablets once daily as directed by a doctor" and the kid's version says "take 1 tablet once daily or every 6 to 8 hours". I'll check with my pharmacist (I promise!) but it would seem to me that a child could take ONE adult pill.
allesonwonderland Posted September 1, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2007 I did some research awhile back and found Bonine and Children's Bonine have different active ingredients...not sure if that means the adult version isn't good for kids or not. Good luck!
