We are going on the Elation next week. Can I carry on wine for the dining room/cabin? What is the corkage fee?

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onboard. However, guests (21 years and older only) may bring one bottle (750 milliliter) of wine or champagne per person on board only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the dining room or a $14 corkage fee per bottle in the Supper Club. Guests may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages.:)

I am sure this will get a ton of posts as usual, but you can bring more in your luggage if you so desire. Pretty good chances you won't get caught. I say (and do) bring whatever you will use during the course of the trip. Don't worry about people who will tell you that you are raising the cost of future cruises for others or any of that nonsense. Carnival is a well-oiled machine and trust me they have their numbers down to a science and know they are covered regardless of whether or not you smuggle in some extra booze.

 

How much do you think they rook people for on those scratch off tickets at a buck a piece. That alone covers my smuggled booze! HAHA

Hi Dave. Yes, you are allowed one bottle of wine per person to be brought on at embarkation. You can consume this in your cabin, or in the dining room.

 

If you take the bottle to the dining room, you may or may not be charged the $10 corkage fee; it's at the discretion of your waiter. I've never been charged.

 

If you want only one glass of wine in the dining room, you can either order by the glass, or take your glass of wine when you go into the dining room. There's no policy on that, and I did it once.:)

Congrats on choosing Carnival Cruise Line. I like this line myself. Why carry on wine, beer, soda, or even water? They have everything on the ship that you could want. I always buy from the cruise line. Why carry extra items?

To save money??? I'm on vacation I don't want to carry any extra items. I could win money in the casino or at the bingo hall.

You might get the brand you want, but, to carry all the extra stuff on board is inconvient. Spend the extra few bucks you are on vacation.

Some people have their own wine collection. It's really not a big deal to carry on a couple bottles of wine.

 

To the op if you want to drink the wine in your cabin make sure you bring your own corkscrew. Pack it in your checked luggage.

Hey, I like to save money 365 days a year. And for me, it's not an inconvenience to carry on some sodas (we don't drink wine). We pack 2 12 packs of soda in our suitcase, which then leaves room to pack the alcohol we purchase on the ship when we return home. It works out perfectly. We don't drink the sodas Carnival offers, so bringing our own is better for that reason as well.
